As we come close to the end of our study of the Gospel of John, today we look at John chapter 21, and verses 18-23. Here, Jesus is once again placing a call upon Simon Peter. In fact, class teacher Doug Brady makes an argument that this is the 4th call upon Peter. The time is nearing when Jesus will ascend into Heaven, leaving Peter and the other disciples, now apostles, to reach the world with the message of Jesus Christ. Next week, we will complete the study of this book of the Bible.

We are quickly reaching the end of this long (105 lessons) study of the Gospel of John. I can tell you from personal experience that although I have read and studied this wonderful Gospel many times, class teacher Doug Brady has brought forth facts and meanings that I had never even entertained. And this lesson, titled: "The Second Calling of Simon Peter", at the scriptural address of John 21:15-17.
In this lesson, we see final plans being made, and instructions being given, to the disciples who have followed Jesus for these 3 years. It will be their job to build the "church", and now 2100 years later, we see the results of that teaching, and the results of the tenacity of the disciples in those early days.

This is the 104th lesson in our ongoing series on the Gospel of John. We are now in the final chapter of this fantastic book, chapter 21. And today, we look at the first 14 verses. Jesus meets with several of his disciples on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. These disciples have gone home to their commercial fishing business which they abandoned when Jesus chose them for the position of disciple, but now, Jesus is dead, or so they think. In fact, he has risen from the grave, or resurrected from the grave. And now, he shows himself to them. Open your bible to the 21st chapter of John and follow along.

Today, we look at 2 very amazing verses in the 20th chapter of the Gospel of John. We have been studying this Gospel for over 2 years, and this is the 103rd lesson in this series. Every so often, when reading the bible, we read a verse that just seems to be put there for no special reason. It perhaps emphasizes a previous point, or perhaps just fills some space between other verses. But wait - - - this is the Bible, and its author is God. He doesn't waste words. These two verses have so much material included in them, and breaking it down, as class teacher Doug Brady does, is a way of realizing the importance of the material we are studying.

This is the 102nd lesson in this ongoing series on the Gospel of John. We are in the 20th chapter, and will look at verses 24-29 in this lesson. Class teacher Doug Brady, is looking at those people who Jesus meets with following his resurrection, and before the assension. Today, He finally has a conversation with Thomas, one of the disciples. Many call him "Doubting Thomas", because of his comments when he misses seeing Jesus on that first day. We learn a great deal about Thomas in todays lesson.

And today, we look at Mary Magdelene. Jesus has just come from the tomb, and she doesn't recognize Him. He does answer her questions and gives us a feel for what a glorified body looks like.

He is Risen. He is Risen indeed. In this lesson of our series on the Gospel of John (of which this is the 99th lesson), we find the tomb empty. What kind of emotions ran through the women when they discovered the stone rolled away, and the tomb empty. What about Peter and John? How did they react? Today's lesson covers this time in history. The resurrection has occurred, and Jesus is alive. Turn in your bible to the 20th chapter of John and follow along in this very important lesson.

The Believer's Bible Class has been involved in a study of the Gospel of John for 95 weeks, and today, we have reached the portion where Jesus is hanging on the cross of calvary. We have looked at the method of crucifixion by the Romans; we have looked at the attitudes of the leaders of the Jews and at Pontias Pilate who led the Romans in the Holy Land at that time. Today, we look at the very damaged body of Jesus as he hangs on that cross for us. Class teacher Doug Brady brings this lesson with all the knowledge and study that has brought us thus far in this study. This is the 96th lesson in this series on John.

Today's lesson from the Gospel of John takes us into a very informative discussion of the crucifixion of Jesus. Specifically, class teacher, Doug Brady shares his research into the process of crucifixion by the Roman's, and gives us a great deal of information regarding how crucifixion came into being in the first place. Doug mentions at the beginning that his research notes are available for you at our main website, www.BelieversBibleClass.com . Go to the Current Study button, then to lesson #95, then just below that, a place to download the research material. This is the 95th lesson in the ongoing study of the Gospel of John.

As we continue with our study of the Gospel of John, Class teacher, Doug Brady is right at home teaching about the trials of Jesus, which took place during the night just after he was arrested. I say at home because Doug is an Attorney, and he thinks of this as something that he is a part of. In fact, as part of this lesson, he presents a copy of a Writ, a legal document, that could have been drafted by Pontias Pilot and Sent to the Emperor in Rome, asking for a pardon for Jesus. Of course, it was not in God's plan that this might be the case, but it is interesting to read and understand the details of what is going on in these trials. Turn in your bible to the 19th chapter of John and listen carefully. You can read a copy of the Writ, but going to the class website at: www.BelieversBibleClass.com , and clicking on the "teaching nuggests" button. You will find this document there. This is the 94th lesson in this ongoing series.

We are continuing our study of the Gospel of John. Currently, we are in the 19th chapter, studying the various trials of Jesus after his arrest. Class teacher Doug Brady backs up just a step in this lesson to cover a verse that we have already looked at. It is: John 18:36. Open your bible to that verse and follow along. This verse is likely the most misused verse in the Bible. It is used to misinterpret what is actually written. Doug will explain that in this lesson. This is the 93rd lesson in this ongoing series in the Gospel of John.

This is the 92nd lesson in this ongoing series on the Gospel of John. We are looking at the trials of Jesus, just hours before the crucifixion. In today's lesson, Jesus is before the Roman Curate, Pontias Pilot. Pilot does not want to make a decision because he can find no fault in Jesus. But because of the cries of the crowd, and his precarious position with the emperor in Rome, he sends Jesus to the cross.

This is the 91st lesson in the ongoing study of the Gospel of John. Today's lesson is a continuation of Chapter 18 of John, which is titled "The Trials of Jesus" Part 2. And today, we look at the Four Questions of Pilate. Jesus has been arrested, and that very night, he is subjected to 6 trials or inquisitions before religious and political leaders. Last week, he was before Annas, and today, we look at his very short visit with the High Priest, Caiaphas, and then he is taken before the Roman Curate, Pontias Pilot. Pilot asks 4 very pointed questions of Jesus, and the answers are telling. Class teacher Doug Brady looks at these questions and answers with great thoroughness, and we learn a great deal from the answers.

This is the 90th lesson in this ongoing series on the Gospel of John. We are now studying the Passion Week, and last time, Jesus was arrested by the Temple Guard, and brought before the High Priest. This begins a long night of going from one place to another, each time being turned away by the Roman authorities. But in the end, the ProCurator of Rome, Pontias Pilot, sends Jesus to the cross. Class teacher, Doug Brady, takes us through that long night and the trials, and in today's lesson, he covers the first of 6 events, or trials.

This is the 89th lesson in this ongoing series on The Gospel of John. Class teacher Doug Brady brings a lesson today that covers only 2 verses, John Chapter 18, and verses 10 and 11. But Oh, how full these two verses are as we learn more about Jesus. The question in this lesson is: How is Simon Peter being sanitized for the ministry? And, are we, as born again, Bible believing Christians being sanitized by the Lord in preparation for our witnessing and testifying for Jesus? These questions and much more are answered in this lesson. Be sure to have your Bible Ready because Doug brings many other verses into play.

We have finished the 17th chapter of the Gospel of John, and today we start looking into Chapter 18, which is the beginning of "Passion Week", the time when Jesus is arrested, tried, crucified and resurrected. Today, we look at the Arrest of Jesus. Class teacher, Doug Brady, has carefully put together the moods, the happenings, and the reasons for the arrest. A member of the class mentioned after the class that he had studied this passage many times over the years, and thought he had it down. But, he admitted, Doug had gleaned so much more from the 9 verses in chapter 18, which is the hallmark of his teaching ability. This is the 88th lesson in this ongoing series on the Gospel of John.

We are continuing with our ongoing study of the Gospel of John, and this week, we are in the 17th chapter of John, reading the words of Jesus in his High Priestly Prayer. This is a very private conversation between Jesus and His Father, God. We are allowed to listen in because it helps us to understand how Jesus prayed, and then we can follow His lead. Last week, we started looking at this prayer, and today we pick up with verse 6, and go through verse 11.
